How we “do church.”

Our Distinctives

Every church has its own unique distinctives for how it will function. While Christian churches may share similar foundational beliefs, they may have different ways of “doing church.” These are 6 distinctives of Essential Church.
  • We proclaim the gospel of our Sovereign Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
  • We submit to the Bible as our final authority in all matters of belief and life
  • We promote live, expository preaching to equip the church
  • We are governed by a plurality of male elders
  • We cooperate as Southern Baptists to fulfill the Great Commission
  • We commit to kingdom multiplication through church planting and revitalization

Our Service

Every church is a unique expression of their Gospel beliefs, unique distinctives and the gifts, talents and personality of its members and community. Our weekly service includes:
  • Opportunity for fellowship. We think church should be a place where friendships are built and relationships are deepened. That is why we provide space for people to hang out and catch up over a cup of coffee in the lobby before the service, and a free lunch for people to have fuller conversations after the service.
  • Contemporary, Christ-focused worship.  Our worship is an important way that we express our praise to God and experience the intimacy of His presence in our lives.
  • Scripture reading and Prayer.  We believe in the power of God’s Word and prayer and we strive to model that every Sunday.
  • The Lord’s Supper.  Participating in the Lord’s Supper is a weekly reminder of the heart of the Gospel.  This is a time to remember Christ’s sacrifice, repent from our sins and rejoice in God’s grace.
  • Expositional preaching. Every sermon we preach is rooted in a foundational passage of scripture.  This may be a verse by verse study of an entire book of the Bible, a chapter or a specific passage.  We try to allow the Scripture speak for itself, while remaining relevant and applicable in our delivery.
  • Gospel Response.  Every Sunday, we provide an opportunity to respond to the preaching of the Word of God.  To help provide counsel and prayer, we have designated a Godly couple to serve as our Spiritual Response team.  The Spiritual Response team is available at the back of the worship area at the end of every service.
  • Tithes and Offerings.  We believe that giving our tithes and offerings to the Lord is a vital part of our worship experience.  It is a tangible way in which we demonstrate our love and faith as well as live out Christ’s command to “seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.” Matthew  6:33.
