Essential Church is now part of Summit Life Church!

A Message from the Elders of Essential Church

Essential friends and family,

Back in November Pastor Warren shared that he would be stepping down from his role as lead Pastor of Essential Church and on Sunday, December 16th he delivered his last sermon as our pastor. We cannot be more thankful for Warren and his family’s service to the Lord and to our Church over the last 6+ years and we are excited to continue walking alongside them as dear friends while they seek the Lord’s will for the next phase in their life and ministry.

With Warren stepping down as the Lead Pastor of our Church, the Elders (Warren, Bryan, Jim and Jilong) along with advisers from the Pillar Network and other partner organizations went through a process of prayer and discussion to determine what’s best for the future of Essential Church to continue magnifying Christ and multiplying His Kingdom. As we shared during an Essential Family Meeting on 12/13, we have decided that the best next step for Essential Church is to merge/integrate with Summit Life Church under the leadership of Will Forrest. Although we are saddened to lose Warren’s great leadership and will definitely miss having him, Leah, Krista and Micah as part of our church family, we believe integrating the Essential Church Family into Summit Life Church is a great opportunity to strengthen another church plant that is near and dear to our hearts, while also providing a great church home for all of us to continue fellowship with other believers and serving the Lord.

As we have continued conversations with Will and many of you, the timeline for the transition to Summit Life is now becoming more clear so we wanted to outline some of the key milestones to make sure everyone is aware and has the opportunity to connect with Will and other members of the Summit Life Family as we move towards becoming a new combined church body.

Key Dates:

  • Combined Church Work Party and Fellowship – Saturday, 1/12 10AM to 2PM: This is an opportunity for both the Summit Life and Essential Church families to come together at Summit Life’s new building for a little manual labor and fellowship! This is a great way to help get the new building ready for it’s first church service sometime in the coming months while also providing an opportunity to get to know each other…nothing says bonding like swinging a hammer, weeding or painting some walls. New Building Address: 765 Rainier Blvd N, Issaquah, WA 98027
  • Combined Church Service and Fellowship Lunch at Summit Life Church – Sunday, 1/13 at 10:00 AM: This will be our first Sunday as a part of Summit Life Church. There will be a special lunch following the service to provide additional time to meet new people and get integrated with the church family. Summit Life Church currently meets at Grand Ridge Elementary in the Issaquah Highlands (1739 NE Park Dr, Issaquah, WA 98029). Checkout http://summitlifeseattle.com for more details.
  • Discover Summit Meetings at Will’s house – Month of February (details to follow): Will plans to open his house several times in the Month of February for dinner and “Discover Summit” classes to give you the opportunity to learn more about Summit Life and explore membership. More details will be shared when the dates and times are finalized.

Transition Team – as we work through this transition, we will establish a Transition Team made up of leaders from Essential and Summit Life Church to continue working through decisions and ideas to make sure this combined church family thrives and continues to make a strong impact for God’s Kingdom.
Finally, Will is very interested in spending time with everyone that calls Essential Church their home and is interested in meeting with him about Summit Life. If you haven’t had a chance to meeting with Will 1:1, and you are interested, please email him at wforrest@summitlifeseattle.com to connect.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of the Elders or to Will with your questions.
